Annual General Meeting 2010/11

Minutes of Meeting

1 Chairman Eddy Burns opened the meeting with a description of the accounts throughout the previous season and the balance, which will be  carried forward for this season. I would like to thank the members who turned up last night although it was only 8 people but we continued in good EGGS tradition.

2 We discussed the functions of the committee and voted the positions as follows:

Chairman Eddy Burns

Secretary Billy Gibb

Treasurer Ian Daniels

Fixtures Secretary Chalkie

Social Secretary This position could not be filled as no one was interested in taking on the task, but if anyone is interested please contact

any of the above committee with your name, but we need someone who will be active and committed to undertaking the task.

Sponsors Secretary Once again we could not get anyone who was interested in undertaking this task, but we do require an individual who is interested and committed to actively seek out sponsors for any of the up and coming events.

3 We discussed the EGGS handicaps and how we should approach this in accordance with the EGF handicap system and each individual course with their slope index and how we should approach this. It has always been EGGS policy that you will play off your lowest handicap whichever one you may have, whether it be an EGF, club or society handicap. When you play, in any event you must check when you pay your money; there will be a notice of the slope index for that course. Therefore, you scroll down to your handicap and look at the relative slope index handicap for that course and that is the handicap you will play for that specific course. This must be carried out for each time you play. For EGF members it’s easy they just log on and the print out will give you your handicap for that specific course.

Also in previous years anyone who does not have an official handicap MUST play off SCRATCH for 3 x 18 hole rounds of golf and then EGGS will issue them a handicap based on the 3 cards handed in to the society. Please note this may not be 3 EGGS events it can be any 18 hole game as long as there is an EGGS member playing with them and endorses their card.

4 It was also discussed the introduction of children in to the society. There was no real objections as such, but individual parent must remember that they are bringing their child in to an adult environment and adult talk may offend. As EGGS is an adult society, there will be certain members who might not want to play with a child and if anyone is thinking of bringing their child as such, they must remember they must play in the same group as their child.

Therefore any member thinking of bringing their child must request permission before doing so and at their discretion, may want to put together their own 4 ball.

5 The meeting was brought to an swift end as Chalkie had to run and watch the Yids.

USGA Handicap System

The Emirates Golf Federation has adopted the USGA Handicapping System.

Some aspects of the system have been modified in order to make the transition from CONGU to USGA easier. The USGA are aware of these modifications.

The changes are:

1. Handicap limit of men 28 and ladies 36.

2. Equitable Stroke Control adjusted to table below.

PLEASE REMEMBER

The purpose of a handicap is to enable players of lesser ability to play against players of better ability

Adjusted Gross Score / Equitable Stroke Control (ESC)

Equitable Stroke Control is the downward adjustment of individual hole scores for HANDICAP purposes in order to make handicaps more representative of a player’s potential ability. ESC sets a maximum number that a player can post on a hole depending on the players Course handicap.ESC is only used when a players’ actual score or most likely score exceeds the players’ maximum allowance on that hole.

At the end of the round your score must be adjusted to the net gross score which will be put into the system. You make these adjustments as needed when you play the hole.
